History

Pennington Gas Service, 

now serving propane gas customers in 43 Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana counties, was originally operated out of a small family grocery store in Morenci, Michigan. In 1953, Clare, Theola, and son Richard Pennington, responding to their grocery customers' requests, began offering propane in 100 lb. cylinders for cooking. The 100 lb. cylinder business soon grew into a delivery route for Richard, and as propane home heating became more popular, the Penningtons were faced with a decision. 

In 1960, 

the Penningtons sold their grocery store, and purchased land just a few hundred yards away on Weston Road. The site became a propane gas distribution center and business office, and is still the home of Pennington's corporate offices and Morenci Customer Service Center.

and the community helped Pennington Gas gain a reputation for integrity and dependability. As Richard guided the company through the late 1960's and the 1970's, Pennington Gas experienced steady and sometimes rapid growth.

A third generation

of Penningtons now operates Pennington Gas Service and has for more than 25 years. Brothers Mark, Terry, Keith, and Dean Pennington have continued to build upon a strong tradition of dependable, courteous customer care, and have expanded the company to serve customers within a large area of southeast, central, and west Michigan, as well as northern Ohio and Indiana. In addition to the home office in Morenci, Pennington operates Customer Service Centers in the Michigan communities of Stockbridge, Fenton, Coldwater and Coopersville, with additional "satellite" refilling stations in Tecumseh and Pittsford. 2004 marked the opening of the company's North Baltimore, Ohio location, and Pennington's newest Customer Service Center in Wapakoneta, Ohio opened for business in 2005.
